Informations and pictures for manufacturing of a Pedro Lopes saddle
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Pedro Lopes saddles can be adapted to the morphology of your horse. Panels and tree can be worked according to the anatomy of your horse, whatever its breed, Iberian or not. No worries to dress any type of horse, as long as its withers width remains in the range offered by Pedro Lopes, whether it is an Iberian, Friesian, Arabian type, sport type, semi-heavyweight, pony, etc, etc. ...
However, it is important to keep in mind that this is working remotely, only on photos and with a few measurements.
It is impossible to guarantee perfect adaptation under these conditions.
Nothing beats the direct observation by the manufacturer himself, of the motionless and moving horse, to judge its morphology, its poise, its locomotion...
Thus, being therefore a remote manufacturing, without seeing the horse in flesh and blood, simply on photos and measurements, you may need to call on a saddle-fitter for some finishing work. It may also be that the saddle does not go at all, because it is only work on pictures, and that we are not with you to check the accuracy of the measures measures.
Neither Pedro Lopes nor La Sellerie Garrocha could be held responsible in the event of the saddle not being suitable for the horse.
1/ WITHERS DRAWING
We need the horse withers drawing, taken 5cm behind the scapula tip.
Warning, there is unfortunately no universal measure method,
each manufacturer has their own measures method,
Pedro Lopes relies on the angle of the withers, and the width of the withers according to this method of measurement:
Take an iron wire and mold it on the horse withers.
Extend the area where the panels should rest in two straight lines.
From the intersection point of these two lines, measure 21cm downward.
Measure the distance between the tip of these two lines:
the distance found in centimeters is the withers width you need.
The point of intersection of the two lines may be indifferently above or below the top of the withers according to the morphology of the horse.
The measure found is not enough.
We also need the drawing or the picture of the wire, with the two lines drawn or materialized, the measures indicated on it, and the right and left side.
It is very important that the picture is well taken from the front, so that the saddler can measure the withers angle on the picture.
If the picture is taken at an angle (from the bottom, top or side), the withers angle on the picture the measurements are distorted.
You can also measure the angle yourself and communicate it to us.
Like this:
For more precision, you can also provide the drawing of the back of your horse every 5 or 10cm. To do this, you can help yourself with this metal molding template:

2/ PICTURES
We need pictures of the horse, naked, motionless, on flat ground, visible to the hooves:
- profile (both sides)
- 3/4 front (both sides)
- 3/4 back (both sides)
- view of the back from above the croup
Please resize the photos so that they do not exceed 2000px at the widest (not too small either, not less than 1000px).
Like pictures above.
The idea is to judge the build of your horse, a close-up of his withers or a superb photo of your horse prancing are of absolutely no interest! Take a step back, take the horse as a whole and forget the artistic side, we need practice!
