- My leather material has marks such as folds, veins, is my product defective?
No. Leather is first and foremost animal skin. Just like wood for example, it is a natural material, which has irregularities (veins, wrinkles, scars). The presence of these traces is completely normal and is on the contrary indicative of authentic leather, and does not bring any weakness to the material. These small imperfections make all the beauty, charm and nobility of leather, and what makes each item unique.
- My leather material has white marks, what is it?
Good fat, that's all! It is simply the sign of well-maintained leather. Well-nourished and hydrated leather will naturally saturate and the fat will rise to the surface. Simply remove the excess with a soft, dry cloth.
- Will my leather material other than black keep its original color?
No, the color of the leather will change whether we like it or not! With care products, the sun, friction, perspiration... Over time, the colors will evolve, darken, acquire a patina, giving even more charm to beautiful genuine leather riding equipment!
- What is full grain leather?
This is the outer part of the skin, where the hair grows. It is the noblest and most robust leather.
- What is split leather?
It is a skin split in two in its thickness. The outer part forms the grain, the inner part forms the leather crust.
- What is reversed leather? Also called velvet leather, suede leather or by misuse of language "fallow deer"?
It is rare that the term "suede" is attached to real suede leather, but the resemblance of real suede leather and reversed leather has generated this misuse of language.
The reversed leather is obtained by a fairly coarse sanding of the inner part of the skin.
- What is nubuck?
The principle is the same as for reversed leather but the sanding is much finer.
- What is oiled leather?
This is a leather that has been heavily greased during its transformation process, in order to waterproof it. It is a very robust, supple but strong leather, often used for boots, chaps, etc. It can easily have small superficial scratches, but don't panic, it's nothing serious, just rub gently with your fingers to make them disappear.
